How My Classes Work

John Burns
Final Cut Pro Editor/Trainer

I’m John Burns, a Final Cut Pro editor and certified trainer offering personalized online classes. Since 2001, I’ve been helping editors and creators learn Final Cut Pro in a clear, approachable way that saves time and builds confidence. My teaching philosophy is simple: if time is money, then learning to edit efficiently is one of the best investments you can make.

Here’s how it all goes — super simple 🔥
from start to finish!

Send Your Registration

Start by filling out the registration form with the date and time you’d like for your class.

Wait for a Confirmation Email

Once I get your request:

  • If your date is available, I’ll send you a confirmation email with a PayPal payment link so you can secure your spot.

  • If it’s not available, I’ll reach out and we’ll find another time that works for you.

Your Spot Is Confirmed

After your payment goes through, you’ll receive a final confirmation email with your booked date and time, plus a quick note about my cancellation policy.

Before Class

About 10 minutes before your class, you’ll get an email with your Zoom link.

  • If you already have Zoom installed, just click the link and it’ll open in the app. You can also download ZOOM here.

  • If not, it’ll open right in your web browser — no problem at all. (Though downloading Zoom is free and usually runs a little smoother.)

💡 Tip: It helps to open your email on the same computer you use for Final Cut Pro, so everything’s ready to go when we start.

What Happens During Your Online Class

Once it’s class time, joining and getting started is easy!

Join the Zoom Session

Click the Zoom link in your email to enter the session. Whether you’re using the Zoom app or your web browser, it’ll automatically open whichever option you have available.

Get Connected

Once you’re in, you’ll have two-way audio and video, so we can talk and see each other just like an in-person class.

Share Your Screen

I’ll ask you to share your screen, then you can open up Final Cut Pro and the project you want to work on.

Review and Start

We’ll spend a few minutes chatting about your project, looking at what you’ve done so far, and answering any questions you have. After that — we dive right in! We’ll work together in real time to help you make progress and learn new techniques.
